Fuller House TV review

2/26/16

Hi there! So, I'm going to assume most of you are familiar with the infamous Full House. Netflix has launched a spin-off of the series, Fuller House, February 26th.

I kind of like how it's a mirror image of the original show, where there were then three girls and three adult guys, and in Fuller House there are three boys and three adult girls. DJ Tanner was married with three boys, a 13 year old, 6 year old, and a baby. Her husband was a fireman, and died in the act of duty. Stephanie does not have a family, but is making a career for herself in the music business. Kimmy Gibbler is divorced with a 12 year old daughter. Danny also is re-married, he and his wife plan to sell the house and move, however, later on in the first episode he hands the old house over to DJ. Jesse and Becky (Who, might I say, have aged quite well) are planning a move to another big city as well, after Becky and Danny got a gig on "Wake Up USA". At the time of the first episode we see that Joey has already moved out on his own (Evidently unmarried), but still makes his appearance known several times throughout the season. Nicky and Alex are in college, and, well, I don't really know the best way to describe them. Let me just say two things - first, their plan is to open up a fish-taco truck after college (all they need from their parents are fish, tacos, and a truck). And, second, they certainly did not end up like those visions Jesse and Rebekah had many years ago. (Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers that episode?) And that's it...right? That's the whole cast. I feel like I'm forgetting someone.

Oh, wait.
Little Michelle.
Well, see, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen turned down the role because they're currently preoccupied, launching their fashion line in NY. In the first episode of Fuller House, it played out like this:
Stephanie: "Now, where's my little sis?"
Danny: "Well, Michelle sends her love, but she's busy in New York running her fashion empire."
*Whole cast turns to stare at camera*

Anyway, now that I've introduced all the characters back, here's how it all plays out.

With everybody moving and the decision to put the house on the market, there's kind of a little family reunion. DJ found a house to rent so she can continue raising her kids, Stephanie is booked for the next few months, traveling country to country, happy to be free from any responsibilities. Kimmy, as mentioned, is managing her daughter while in the middle of a divorce. When the family learns of DJ's feelings, and how she's not sure she can do this on her own, the guys decide to step back in. However; DJ doesn't want them to, I mean, they have responsibilities and commitments of their own. And, really, she's just too stubborn to admit she needs help. Then Stephanie steps in, and Kimmy follows.

Season one is on Netflix now. One major negative is, even though the show is rated "G", it is most definitely not suitable for younger viewers. It should be at least PG or PG-13 if you ask me. There's a lot of adult humor, inappropriate gestures, comments, and themes. Provocative clothing, sexual references, occasional foul language, and, well, you get the point. I have to say, overall, I'm very disappointed. Okay, that's an understatement, because, really, I'm appalled. The original show definitely had it's moments, don't get me wrong, but it was more family oriented than this. I don't know if it is meant for kids and adults, and kids just aren't supposed to understand what's going on, but I wouldn't feel comfortable letting children watch it. Maybe it will get better, I thought. But the entire season is horrible. In one of the last episodes, Kimmy and Stephanie kiss. I'm not kidding. Don't tell me that kids aren't supposed to "get" that! I'm really quite surprised that the show is filled with all of this garbage, considering Candace Cameron Bure is on it. She's such a wonderful, well-praised Christian role-model, it makes me quite sad to see her in this. I'd like to say that the next season might be better, but I won't even go there.
That's all I've got for today. Let me know what you thought of it!
